In-app updates
Ventic now tells you when a new version is out - and where it installed itself, it installs the update itself too.
Updates
A badge in the toolbar, and the details under Settings → About. Where the app installed itself - the AppImage, the Windows .exe and .msi, the macOS .app - the update downloads and installs in one click. Where something else owns the files, a .deb, an .rpm, the AUR or Nix, it says so and links the release instead: overwriting files your package manager is keeping track of does more harm than an out-of-date app. Android links the APK.
- Every update is signed, and a bundle that did not come out of this repository's release workflow is refused.
- This one has to be installed by hand: 0.1.1 shipped without an updater, so there is nothing in it to notice 0.2.0. From here on it is automatic.
Season progress
Season cards show how far into a season you are, and a tick once it is finished. The eye button marks a whole season watched or unwatched without opening it - and if you mark a later season, it offers to catch the earlier ones up.
Also
- macOS: the README now documents the xattr command for the "Ventic is damaged and can't be opened" message. Nothing is damaged - that is what Gatekeeper says about any app no paid Apple certificate vouches for.
